CSS Atlanta 11101
Product Description
Originally used by the Confederacy as a blockade-runner, the Fingal brought a large stock of munitions into Savannah in 1861. After Union forces closed the exits from Savannah, Fingal was converted to an ironclad and renamed CSS Atlanta.
In a brief battle in June of 1863, Atlanta was overwhelmed by Union monitors Nahant and Weehawken and surrendered. The captured ironclad was taken into the Union Navy as USS Atlanta. After the war she was sold as surplus and became the Haitian warship Triumph. She disappeared off Cape Hatteras in December 1869.
Our model of the CSS Atlanta measures 21"L x 4.5"W x 6"H. The Ship is hand made by skilled craftsmen using the finest wood and created with authenticity. Some assembly is required.
Also the USS Cairo models are very popular!
