While the dial counts away the hours between tide cycles below, the top is mechanically animated to show the changing sea level in real time. At high tide the water will sit at the edge of the grassy grounds, and slowly lower to reveal the sandy beach below before beginning to rise again.

Also known as the Harding’s Beach Lighthouse, the Stage Harbor Lighthouse of Chatham, Massachusetts, is the youngest lighthouse in Cape Cod. Built in 1880 at the entrance to Stage Harbor, it was important to help the Chatham Light as this is one of the foggiest areas along the East Coast. This lighthouse was decommissioned in 1933 when a new light was built on a separate tower in the area. This lighthouse stand on private property today, but is still a huge attraction because of it's importance to the history and growth of the area.
